KUALA LUMPUR: Elie Youssef Najem has strongly denied reports that he is wanted by Interpol for crimes in three different countries.
Najem said he had never even been to Cyprus before, where he is said to be a wanted man, that he had left Canada in 1993, and that he had only been to Lebanon three times in his life.
“Who did I kill or which drug deal did I do for Interpol to want me?” he asked during a press conference at his apartment yesterday.
He also denied reports that he was wanted by Canadian police for a string of fraud cases dating back more than a decade.
“I am not the only Elie Youssef Najem in Canada. I did my own checks and found that there is another person with that name, a Somali,” he said. (Click the title for full report)

"Billionaire" Najem arrested The STAR on 16th JAN 2006
KUALA LUMPUR: Self-proclaimed billionaire Elie Youssef Najem has been arrested over several alleged cheating cases.
The 45-year-old Lebanese was arrested by Bukit Aman police officers at his condominium unit in Villa Putra here at about 6.15pm.
Najem hogged the limelight
earlier this month when he pledged RM1bil to build a new cancer hospital and research centre for the National Cancer Council (Makna).
His huge donation offer and the following media glare on his life resulted in numerous people coming forward, alleging that Najem owed them money for various unpaid bills and expenses.
It was later also reported that his marriage to 19-year-old Farinnie Mohd Farid was also a sham, with the imam who purportedly solemnised the marriage last year having died 10 years ago.

why are we making a big fuss....when a guy pledge to donate so much money???? are we supposed to burn money like our beloved GLC then only is OK?

I guess what ever money that you wanna to spend must proof that you earn it LEGALLY.
Donation is also the same, therefore the G is doing the right job.
I hope his money is clean and we can have a new Hospital in Ampang.
But now, its seems that he was criminal which has been confirmed by the Police officer.
I am wondering, if he is not planning to do the donation (1 billion) to Malaysia, maybe nobody knows him.
Conclusion is a RICH man sometimes is not that CLEAN as you think.
